Business Daily reports that there is a court battle over the ownership of Simmers Restaurant in Nairobi.

The popular joint is located along Kenyatta Avenue and is likely to be sold to a third-party.

According to the story on the Business Daily, the ownership row has on one hand shareholders of Nilestar Holdings and Green Valley Limited. The later is a company owned by former minister Arthur Magugu and his wife.

The story indicates Mr Magugu moved to court to stop Nilestar Holdings from transferring the title of the restaurant.

Simmers has stood the test of time and is one of the most visited joints in Nairobi Central Business District.

At a time when most of its peers have been bought off and converted to coffee shops, the restaurant has remained steadfast in its offering to client’s.

Apart from the beer and music, the joint also plays host to a bevy of women ostensibly from the adjacent Koinange street out to pitch for business.

While the said transfer of ownership is silent on who is angling for business, patron will be saying silent prayers that it does not go the way of Seasons, Ibiza and lately Tropez.
