The Star-Somali Edition?

Posted on March 11, 2011

Radio Africa head Patrick Quarcoo is a dare-devil to many in his cadre of business. In the 10 plus years he has been in the media industry in Kenya, he has made heads roll and turn with both love and hate.

He is at it again. He is planning another big one as this time round word is that he is setting up The Star- Somali Edition.  The newspaper although we are not sure when it will hit the streets of Mogadishu will be transported to the city at the same speed Miraa traders does.

The newspaper in Somali language will be produced by a team of Somali journalists in Nairobi and correspondences based in Mogadishu. This will be another trend setting by PQ as he is referred to by associate as he has done before in both radio and television business in Kenya.

A Ghanaian national, PQ has managed to set up succesful media ventures in Kenya and Uganda. Among his partners in these business include Kiprono Kittony, Evans Kidero (CEO Mumias Sugar). However there are indications that Town Clerk Philip Khisia could also be having stakes in the business.

P.S The Star is now online. You can read it here
